October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Cancer is a word that has affected many people in our society. Every 69 seconds a woman dies of breast cancer somewhere in the world. In honor and remembrance of this month, this week is “Think Pink” week at North Middlesex. The cheerleaders are selling pink items to support the cause. Help them to make a difference by wearing pink each day this week and stopping by the tables outside café C to purchase some pink items. All monies collected goes to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

School picture day is back. O’Connor Studios will be returning on Thursday, for students who were absent on picture day or those who need their portrait package retaken. If you’d like to order pictures, please use your original order form or pick up a new form in the office. If you are having your picture retaken, return your original package to the photographer on retake day. No order form is necessary for retakes. Please note that retakes are only offered for students who paid for a portrait package or who were absent the first day. Thank you from all of us at O’Connor Studios.

Mr. Barbar’s business class is holding a fall raffle with many fantastic prizes such as four Bruins tickets, a new 19” plasma television, a guitar, and much more. Tickets will be on sale during all lunches on Fridays and at the home football games starting this Friday through November 19th. One ticket sells for $1 or 5 tickets for $3. Don’t miss out on your chance to win a great prize!
PSAT’s are being held on Saturday.
The class of 2011 will again be collecting old cell phones to recycle. Any old cell phones you have may be given to Mr. Dellasanta or Mrs. Jackson through October 24th.
Homecoming week is November 1st through November 5th. All clubs and activities are invited to enter a float in the Homecoming parade. There will be a trophy for the first place float in the club and activity category.
We are again participating in the “Hannaford Helps Schools” Program now through December 5th. If you want to help our school raise money, please stop by the office or Hannaford to pick up an information booklet. We were the number one fundraising school in the 2009 Hannaford Helps Schools program.
The NM Varsity Cheerleaders will again be collecting warm clothing and non-perishable food for our local TEO. The need is great once again. Please bring any clothing (such as jackets, coats, sweaters, hats, mittens, pants, shirts, etc.) in good condition, canned food products, macaroni, spaghetti, paper products, shampoo, soap, and/or personal care items and place them in the boxes in the front lobby. We wish to thank all those who have donated in the past and urge everyone to bring in as much as they are able. "Everybody wants to make a difference, but no one can do it alone." Help us to double last year's donations.
