The guidance and counseling program at Nissitissit Middle School is
designed to address the uniqueness of the transition from childhood to adolescence.
The program further serves to promote the academic, social, personal and career
development of the middle school child.
A School Counselor assists students, teachers, and parents in a variety of
ways:
** Counseling individuals and groups of students
** Fostering the academic success of all students
** Teaching strategies to deal with on-going changes in students’ personal and academic lives
** Teaching conflict resolution skills
** Educational and career planning
** Coordinating referrals to outside agencies
** Providing informational workshops for parents
