~RACHEL’S CHALLENGE~

“YOU JUST MAY START A CHAIN REACTION”

On Thursday, October 16, 2008 North Middlesex Regional High School will be hosting Rachel’s Challenge, a school program focusing on bullying and peer relationships.  Rachel Scott was the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy on April 20, 1999.  The foundation of this remarkable program is based on Rachel’s acts of kindness and compassion, modeled after her own life and personal writings.

Rachel’s Challenge is a one-hour assembly where students will view powerful audio/video footage, including images from that day at Columbine High School.  The presentation will also include  “Rachel’s six challenges” motivating individuals to positively change the way they interact with each other.

A parent/community event will take place that evening at North Middlesex Regional High School (6:30 -8:00 p.m.).  This presentation will be similar to the one students will have seen earlier in the day.  We encourage parents to attend this event, as it gives an opportunity to understand the impact Rachel’s Challenge has on our students and the school community.

We encourage you and your student to visit www.rachelschallenge.com for further information.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Lewenczuk at the high school at (978) 597-8721/slewencz@nmiddlesex.mec.edu

We hope to see you there!
